BUILDING NEWS
Once again it was a day of hard work, but the gumboots seemed to stay in a pile. Edd was back on the shovel and crow bar moving trench debris and John’s gang put down the rest of the iron and the wood to make a frame to pour the concrete into. It looks as if tomorrow is big pour day!
The guy who is going to do our block and brick work came over and we tried to work out some of the details. The chimney presents some problems and also the weight of the windows. We think it might be good to make a frame to do brick work on. I can see that the chimney and bench design for the sitting room needs a lot of careful thought.
OTHER NEWS
We ended up yesterday by having dinner out at Bo’s restaurant with our friends P and T, who have just moved into the house they are renting in Yarra Glen. It was a fantastic way to let down after all the excitement and drama of the last few days. It seems unbelievably special to have such dear friends living so close.
We were invited over to a neighbours place for a fire anniversary supper but I just don’t want to give mind space to that awful time any more. I explained that we were going to see our friends, so I hope she did not mind. I have not even listened to the media. There are fires raging round Perth now and more people have lost their houses. Here we are still dealing with the aftermath of the weekend floods. We finally got the Melba hwy open again today so the floodwater must be retreating.
