Marysville

25.6.2012

India reached Marysville for the weekend and we moved her backup van for the last time. The weather actually improved slightly on Friday but even so I felt no urge to do any trekking myself because it was still extremely cold.  The great thing is that India has really taken to the horses and loves working with them. I had given up hope that I would have a grand child who shared our love for riding.  It has been a good week for Australian horses with Black Caviera winning in the UK and being congratulated personally by the Queen. Now all we need is for all these equine friends to get home safe and sound.

Al is working hard on his new house. He thinks demolition starts on his rented house in about three weeks time at the latest so things are getting urgent. We took back tools we had borrowed on Sunday and watched iron go up on the roof of the new shed for India.  It seems we are all having to totally rebuild our lives and homes.

It is fabulous to have a house again but the next hurdle is to sort out the rest of our lives. I have been tackling the insurance issues and the company we were insured with before has quoted a price we could not possibly pay so I guess they do not want to know us anymore. We may have to set a holding pattern this year and see how we go. The chances of getting back into a business again are looking pretty slim, which is disappointing.

The jonquils are flowering and the citrus fruit are just about ripe. The ground is so wet that once again the goats are developing foot problems. Tonight I have made board walks for them from old pallets so that they can get to and from the milking parlour with dry feet. The chooks lay enough eggs for family and friends but with out the new point of lays we usually have this time of year there are no eggs extra to sell. Bo tells me all her chooks and ducks got taken by a fox , which is very sad.
