We are now having some
pretty miserable weather. It is damp and drizzly most of the time with dull
grey skies. Luckily our new house stays warm with minimal input so we can watch
what is happening outside in comfort. We are still working on the house but at
a much slower rate. This has given me the extra time to go to community
meetings. Basically Steels creek missed out on most of the funding available
for bush fire affected communities but Erin and Hannah have rallied us for one
last effort to try and get help.
Last night we drove up
the mountain track to Kinglake to meet Peter and Thea for a pub tea. They have
now moved into their new house and are really happy to be out of rented
property. Even the thick cloud enveloping all the top of the mountain did not
detract from their joy of finally setting down new roots.
It has been a social
week. On Thursday night Dell invited us over to watch the grand designs
program.
The friend’s house she is living in has pay TV so it was possible
there. This week they showed the story about our own build, so we felt we
should watch it to check out how it came out. We have known Dell for years, so
I was not worried about being embarrassed in front of her. I do wish I did not
have such a terrible English accent though! Otherwise the show was Ok but I
would have preferred to see more of the builders and less of myself.
We have been filmed on
and off for the last year and a half, so the showing of the film marked the end
of another section of our lives. It was fun, in a way. Mostly I like doing
everything in life that comes up, just for the experience. Now I am wondering
if we could possibly restart our business here. The big question is, do we have
the energy for one last massive effort?
