BUILDING NEWS
We are learning that Dion always works on Saturdays. This is difficult for us as it we have more work and commitments over the weekend than any other time. Apparently, this is non –negotiable and if we want a roof we will have to get our life re-arranged. Edd is still feeling sick but he had to work with them this afternoon lifting beams with the weapon of mass destruction.
Who knows why? Today seems to be action day. Before Edd got back from the market the waterproof men had begun work preparing the house roof. They want to try and complete the waterproofing job as soon as possible and could even start on Monday! Once they have done the waterproof layer the termite proofing and geo-fabric go on and the drainage cell stuff that protects the first layers. The plan is to back fill as this goes on.
We now have the massive metal front on the roof and some of the beams but there is still a lot more to be done before the iron can go on. It is most frustrating. Every ones timing is most unpredictable. Where is Gary? Somehow despite all the chaos we are making progress.
OTHER NEWS
We had a warm dry wind today, perfect for dealing with wet washing. The goats were happy too. They could spend all day out grazing and start the process of fattening up on the spring grass. Every day there are more flowers. The arum lilies still look magnificent and lots of daisy type flowers are out in clumps of white, pink and purple.
Thank goodness I am now feeling a lot healthier and even my ankle is working a lot better. Edd is still not right, but even he is now able to eat normal meals again. Dry weather helps a lot. Life is just so miserable when it rains and getting anything done takes twice as much effort as on fine days.
This afternoon I helped Maureen who had the pottery shed on display for the open studio weekend. She had worked incredibly hard and put on a magnificent display with ever pot labelled and priced. Helping was pretty easy and a lot of fun. She had even fired my pots and I was able to come home with lots of plates and the green tea cups that I did for Al. I hope he likes them.
