production increases

BUILDING NEWS

Productivity is increasing! Steve spent the day cutting wood for the kitchen ceiling. Yesterday he and Edd made a proto type arch and put it in place so we could assess it today full production began. The waterproof people also arrived, rather to our surprise, yesterday and put a first sealing coat on the back walls. Edd is busy doing the water proofing on the floor and back walls.

Gary is off somewhere so I did the first square meter of grouting on the floor. I have started in the robe which is now officially designated a practice area. I expect we will try our first wall rendering there too. I mean who looks too carefully at the inside of cupboards? Actually the room is large enough for a small bedroom. Knowing my luck as soon as we do it someone will move in!

We think that Dion is off working on our steel roof and will soon appear with the next stage that needs putting up. So far there has been little rain but we do need it up as soon as possible. I have payed a deposit for the stone today. It is to come from Tasmania, so who knows when it will get here! I also paid for the foam insulation that is to go a meter and a half outside the back wall. The plan is to water proof, termite proof and then fill in behind the house but as we go up we will dig a trench and slot the foam in place. Edd has already ordered the air pipes and they will have to be fitted in about the same time.

OK. If this sounds extremely complicated. To you, imagine how it feels for us! I am just hoping that somewhere, someone knows what they are doing.

OTHER NEWS

Bindi, one of the large sable goats is sick. She went down suddenly with a fever but we thought that last night she was recovering. Unfortunately it may not be fast enough and she is now very week. I have given her injections and continually try to tempt her to eat with more offerings but I am worried it is not enough. This is where I miss having the Toyota. It was so useful for taking animals top the vet in situations like this.

We have done the kids horns and they are all feeding well. The sick lamb is a lusty feeder now and will grow up with a complex as he lives with the goats. It has been so dry I have had to water all the plants but last night there was a very heavy frost, which did no good. Something ate all the lettuces I planted again but bottomless plant pots have saved some of the sparsely.

Arden stayed last night and I swear he has grown visibly in a week. He has no energy, but what would you expect of any creature growing so fast. He eats well and got up early for the school bus, so no one has reason for any complaint. We think Al is getting closer to having a phone connected but it is not quite there yet.
